In Fall of 2016, the faculty and staff of St. Michael School began an intensive self-study required in the process of continuing accreditation. The self-study takes over 18 months to complete and results in an in-depth examination of every facet of the school as well as a serious, top to bottom look at both Catholic identity and curricular areas.
St. Michael Parish School already meets or exceeds all state educational requirements. Under the guidance of the Archdiocese of Seattle Catholic Schools Department, St. Michael joins with other Archdiocesan schools seeking accreditation from the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, and the Western Catholic Education Association.
The staff, students, parish staff, and parents of the school will participate in this study. The final study will be published by December 2017. In those areas where the self-study indicates a need for change or growth, the faculty and staff will create action plans and prepare for implementation of the recommended changes.
Following the evaluation of the self-study by a visiting team of educational professionals in the winter of 2018, St. Michael School expects to be granted accreditation for the next 6 years.
Six-year accreditation terms were previously granted in 2012, 2006, and 2000.
