Olympia, Our Community

St. Michael School is located in heart of Olympia, Washington, our state capital. The city is nestled between the majestic Olympic Mountains and the beautiful waters of South Puget Sound. Our State Capitol's dome can be seen in the distance from our school's playground. With a population of 42,514, Olympia is the largest city in Thurston County. The neighboring communities of Tumwater and Lacey and outlying rural areas make up the total county population of 204,300. Olympia has a small town feel while providing rich culture and diversity.

A visit to Olympia might include a walk down the Percival Landing waterfront, a ride on the Ferris wheel at Lake Fair, a splash from a tugboat during Harbor Days or a stroll through the award winning Farmer's Market. You could also experience the culture and diversity of this rich community at the Procession of the Species during ArtsWalk, the annual Pet Parade featuring the children and pets of our community, or the Native American Longhouse at The Evergreen State College.

From college through high school to grade school, education is paramount in Olympia. For over one hundred years St. Michael School has been a part of this educational excellence.
