That's the hopeful question
asked daily by many of the elementary students. Children in grades K
through 5 receive a semester of instruction in the school's spacious
networked computer lab. Two half-hour sessions each week provide time
to learn and develop computer skills including keyboarding and word-processing,
Internet safety and research and multimedia presentations.
Middle school students have
an opportunity for daily computer instruction for one trimester of the year. In addition
to refining basic computer and keyboarding skills, their course work centers on some
of the creative applications of technology: art, digital photography, desktop movie production, spreadsheet applications, and presentation software. These students also utilize the lab for research
and other project-related work all year long as assigned by their teachers.
Our computer lab is just one
part of the school-wide network: classrooms have at least three networked computers for student use, two middle school classrooms have mini-labs of nine computer stations,
thanks to funding by the TLP grant, and the school library has 7 student work stations. In addition, SMART funds and a grant
have provided a mobile lab of 15 wireless laptops for use throughout
the school. At the SMART Auction in October 2010, our generous patrons donated funds for a second mobile lab of 32 MacBooks.
