At St. Michael's Catholic School, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and faith-filled environment for our youngest learners. Our Pre-K programs are designed to prepare children for their future academic journey while instilling values of compassion, respect, and community. We offer both full-day and half-day Pre-K programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students and their families.
​FULL DAY PRE-K PROGRAM

Overview: Our Full-Day Pre-K Program provides a comprehensive learning experience for children aged 4-5 years. This program runs from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, offering an extended day filled with educational and developmental activities. Students must be four years old for Pre-K by August 31 immediately preceding the school year for which the student seeks to enroll. There are no exceptions made to this requirement.

Curriculum: The Full-Day Pre-K Program focuses on a well-rounded curriculum that includes:

Academic Foundations: Early literacy, numeracy, gross and fine motor skills, and critical thinking skills through engaging and interactive lessons.

Faith Formation: Daily prayers, weekly Bible stories, weekly focus on Virtues, and Liturgical celebrations with the school.

Social-Emotional Development: Identify feelings and express themselves through words, and learning to share and work cooperatively.

Creative Arts: Attend music and library weekly.

Rest: Full day students have rest time in the afternoon following lunch.

Outdoor play: Teachers aim for 90 minutes of outdoor play time each day.

Consistent Routine: A full-day schedule helps children adapt to longer school days and prepares them for the transition to kindergarten.

Extended Learning Opportunities: More time in the classroom allows for deeper exploration of subjects and more personalized attention from teachers in small groups in the afternoon. ​

Buddy Time: Promotes connection between our pre-k students and older SMPS students in a caring and giving way. Pre-K meets with their 5th grade buddies throughout the year and attends all-school Mass with them beginning in December.

HALF DAY PRE-K PROGRAM

Overview: Our Half-Day Pre-K Program is ideal for families who prefer a shorter school day. This program runs from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, providing a focused morning of learning and play.

Curriculum: The Half-Day Pre-K Program offers the same curriculum as the full day programs. Half day students are picked up after lunch.
