Dear St. Michael Families,
Please know that I am holding you all in my prayers during this challenging time of transition for all of us. This is such new territory for everyone and we are all in this together. As one school community, we choose to face this crisis by moving forward with the guiding principles of patience, flexibility, and open communication. We have developed an excellent plan for moving forward with the education of your child. Please know that the details of the plan’s implementation will evolve over time and I ask for your patience as we journey through this new method of teaching and learning together.
In the midst of this global health crisis, please know that our teachers remain deeply committed to the Catholic education of your children. Within the last week, I have been deeply moved by the dedication, professionalism, collaboration, and creativity of our teachers as they worked tirelessly to transition their curriculum to a distance learning model. We are simply incredibly blessed to have the capacity to continue educating your children through our new distance learning model.
Please carefully read our attached Saint Michael Parish School Distance Learning Plan. This document is our guide through the journey of the upcoming weeks and helps to structure the guidelines and expectations of the partnership between you and our teachers. The document essentially creates the structure of our transition to distance learning and I hope that it answers your questions for how we are proceeding. Again, please know that the implementation will evolve over time and our teachers will stay in close communication with you regarding the specific details of your child’s distance learning curriculum.
Our teachers continue to plan today and tomorrow. Thus, the first day of our distance learning curriculum will begin this Wednesday, March 18th. Assignments will be communicated by 8:10 AM on Wednesday morning through email and Google Classroom (grades 3-8). At this time, our teachers are continuing to work in a blend of both at school (in a closed campus format with no in person meetings with students or parents) and remote work from home.
Thank you for your communication with our teachers, your partnership with us, your patience, and your understanding that your child’s Catholic education now continues on in a new form. Our teachers will be in ongoing contact with you and I am committed to sharing regular updates through our Thursday Note email system.
